Week-end!

We had a crazy, but good, week-end. The Liberty Fall Festival was this weekend, and I worked the booth all of Friday and part of Saturday. Jennifer, one of my team members from Liberty, helped me. Then, we went to Clark and Stephanie's house to celebrate Vern and Colleen's 45th anniversary. Stephanie went to a lot of work and had such a nice table. There were pictures of the family throughout the years on the table, and it was fun to look at them. Sara, Stephanie, and I prepared the meal (steak dinner which is what they had on their wedding night). From the dinner, we went to Tawyna Widel's wedding which was near Clark's house. The wedding was outside and really beautiful. Then, after going to the reception, I went back to the booth where Jennifer was working and helped her dismantle and load everything for me to take home! I was a tired girl after two days of late nights and busy days!

Shake Update #2

The other day, I made a shake for Conrad and when he was drinking it, Caden said, "I saw her making it and she put LETTUCE in it!" Conrad shrugged his shoulders and said, "It was spinach--it has no taste" and kept drinking. I found out that he knew because he had read my blog! Yesterday, they made their own shakes and they came and asked me, "Mom, how much spinach do we put in?" :-)

Hurricane Survivors

Kevin spent the hurricane in a bunker that Continental rents out for emergencies. It is quite interesting how there came to be a bunker in the area. Even though the airport in Houston was closed, his department makes sure things run smoothly in reservation all over the world, and so they moved them to the bunker with all the back-up data. It is about an hour north of Houston. We were able to have e-mail contact with him throughout a lot of the hurricane. It was scary to have him write that it was much worse than he could have imagined. He was able to go check on their house later, and was relieved to find that it had no real damage.

Jason and his family spent the hurricane all together in Jason and April's bedroom. It was terrifying for them. Jason was finally able to get a text message out to Donna so we knew they were all OK. Their house also had no real damage. We were all very grateful. I am including some pictures with Eliana's church outfit today. They don't really go with the subject of this entry of the blog, but thought they were sweet.

Family Work Day!

On Saturday, we all worked at the Josephine Expo in St. Joe. I had a Homemade Gourmet booth and Chuck had an American Family booth. There were over 3000 women who came in during 10-5! It was total craziness. The boys switched off helping us--Caden would come up, put on his chef hat and apron and then when he went to help Chuck, he would take it off and put on his American Family hat! Conrad and Caden helped me give out samples. Caden ended up wtih a whole bag of free stuff (including a lot of candy) from other booths, and he somehow ended up with two dozen free cupcakes! He must get that charm from his mom! HA

Trena's Make-Over

Trena hadn't been able to find someone in Houston to cut her hair that she had really liked, and she knew how much I liked Angela here. We tried to get Trena an appointment last weekend when she was here, but Angela wasn't working. So, today we went. She lost a lot of hair! She looks fabulous! Then, we went clothes shopping for her because she didn't have any clothes that fit--she is going to go back a "new woman"! :-)

Look What Ike Blew In!

Because of Hurricane Ike, Trena and Eliana arrived this morning! Kevin was required to go to a bunker that Continental rents with all of their data so that they can keep all the systems going, even if the airport in Houston is closed. Jason and April and their family are in Houston, being warned they could be without electricity for two weeks. We are hoping they all and both Kevin and Jason's houses will be OK. Trena tried to go to Indianapolis where her sister is, but all flights filled up. Before Eliana left on Sunday, we told her, "Now don't change any before you get back!" and in four days, I don't think she did change much! :-) Here is a pix of Eliana and Caden in their pajamas and Eliana in her pretty red dress!

This weekend, Kevin and Trena brought Eliana to visit. I had met her when I went to Houston and Dallas in July but no one else had gotten to meet her. She is so sweet and we all loved having them here!

Santa-Cali-Gon Days!

I definitely 'labored' over the Labor Day week-end! For the fifth year, we had a booth at a huge outdoor festival in Independence. It is outside and an amazing amount of people attend. It is open Friday, Sat, Sun and Monday. I worked each day except Sunday. We got to the booth at 9am and it was open until 11pm! On Sat I left home at 7:15am and got home at 1:15 am! I am tired! But, we had good (hot) weather and sold about $3400 in product and got more leads than ever before for parties and new consultants!

On Friday, Grandma Colleen kept Conrad and Caden for me and on Monday Aunt Stephanie did. They had fun! On Monday, Chuck helped me in my booth and this is a picture of my "sample boy"--he stood out and gave out samples of cranberry almond pasta salad, jalapeno bacon cheddar dip and key lime cheesecake. We did have to make a few new rules that I had never had to make with the girls! I looked out one time and a girl was giving him a sample of her curly potatoes that she bought at a booth down the street (I had to remind him that he was supposed to be GIVING the samples). I also had to keep reminding him that he was supposed to be giving out the samples instead of eating them! :-)
